So far we are enthusiastic about your tool.
One of the best features is the search. Desktop works fine, but not on mobile devices. Did we do something wrong here or does the search in general not work on mobile devices?

  • Hi @zapptalesfabian,

What browser and device are you using? Could you please elaborate more on the issue? Does it just not work at all? Is it a styling issue?

    Hi @etoilewebdesign

    thanks for your answer.
We’ve tested the search with an iPhone X and an iPhone 7 – both with the lastest iOS version in the safari browser. We have also tested a Samsung Galaxy A5 with Google Chrome.

We enter our question, but no answers are proposed. If you tap “Enter”, the page will simply reload.

I don`t know if it is an styling issue.
The site we are talking about is this one: https://www.zapptales.com/de/hilfe-und-kontakt/ (On mobile devices, the search is currently deactivated.)

    Hi zapptalesfabian,

As it’s hidden on mobile, we used browserstack (a cross platform emulator) to test and the predictive questions and this is the result:

But since browserstack is not exactly the same as using a mobile device (i.e. browserstack is a website..etc), would it be possible to ‘un-hide’ the search for mobile so we could test on a phone as well?

If enabling the mobile search isn’t possible, here’s two possible fixes you can try:

    – Enable the mobile view search and try deactivating all the other plugins (in case there’s a plugin conflict that’s effecting the mobile load). If it works then, then reenable then one by one to see what’s causing it.

    – If that didn’t work, you can try temporarily switching to another theme (like “Twenty Nineteen”)

    A few additional questions:

    1) What is the shortcode you’re using on the page?

    2) Is the shortcode on a plain WordPress page or in a page builder?

    Hi @etoilewebdesign

thank you so much for your answer.
I just published a passwort proteced copy of the page with which you can test it:
    https://www.zapptales.com/de/etoilewebdesign/ (pw: etoilewebdesign)

    1) What is the shortcode you’re using on the page?
–> The shortcode we are using is [ultimate-faq-search]

    2) Is the shortcode on a plain WordPress page or in a page builder?
–> We are using the Avia Layout Builder

    Hi @zapptalesfabian,

Sometimes there’s a setting there that conflicts when using a page builder. Could you try testing placing the shortcode straight in the default WordPress editor instead and seeing if it helps?

    Hi @etoilewebdesign

did you mean implementing it like this?

It didn’t work like this way.

    Hi zapptalesfabian,

In regards to your screenshot: would it be possible to put [ultimate-faq-search] completely by itself in the editor of your test page (ie erase everything else, and just have [ultimate-faq-search] in the editor)?

    Hi @etoilewebdesign

    please excuse my late reply.

I have now only inserted the shortcode [ultimate-faq-search] and now the search works. You can test it yourself on the https://www.zapptales.com/de/etoilewebdesign/ page.

Thank you for letting us know. Since the plugin does indeed work, It could be that something else is conflicting with it. If you wish to find the cause of the problem, I would recommend you to individually test the shortcodes you previously had and see when the [ultimate-faq-search] stops working on mobile.

    Hi @etoilewebdesign

I just figured out what the problem was. I used the tag [ultimate-faq-search] twice on the same page – once for mobile, once for desktop. Only the first tag worked at a time. I’m rebuilding the site now, so we only use the tag once on the page. That will solve the problem.

    Hi zapptalesfabian,

Great! Glad to hear you found out what was causing it and thanks for mentioning it here as it should help other users in the future ??
