• I’ve been receiving a number of spam messages – marked as probably spam by akismet. They include a large number of hyperlinks. I don’t think I need to be able to receive hyperlinks. (It’s a website for a small church.) Is there a way to block them if they’re in the message body, or, if there’s more than one, to block them, reject the message, or something like that?
    Thanks!

  • Under ‘Settings -> Discussion’ there’s an option of:

Hold a comment in the queue if it contains (input) or more links. (A common characteristic of comment spam is a large number of hyperlinks.)

That’s what you’d be looking for. It’s normally set to 2, but set it to one if you don’t want any links to be allowed. This will only put the comments in a moderation queue though, It won’t delete them/mark them as SPAM. The best way to do that is to keep using Akismet and mark the comments as SPAM so that Akismet can learn more about what the SPAM actually is.
