    Hi there,

While Fast Velocity does a great job, when I run pagespeed insights the plugin itself now shows up as something that pagespeed thinks needs to be fixed – What shows up is this:

    mysite/wp-content/plugins/fast-velocity-minify/cache/header-ce1b4d76-1478100302.min.css

I’d like to squeeze out as much as I can from my website, so is there a way to fix this?

    Thanks!

What the plugin does is to merge together a lot of files into one or two files like the one above, so there’s no easy way to eliminate the render blocking, unless that css is small enough that can be inlined in the header.

If we inline a big css file, google pagespeed will start showing other warnings because the html will become too big and require several round trip connections…

The real only way to fix all recommendations on wordpress is to hire a developer to do some heavy work for you, namely to find a way to defer javascript (not always possible), move all css to the footer and calculate the critical path css for the header (inlined).

Adding to all this, different themes behave differently, for example those with visual composer and those without.

What you have now is probably the best you can get using a plugin, however if your CSS is small enough, the next update will allow you to inline the css in the header, so perhaps that recommendation can be gone.
