What WordPress, plugin and PHP versions do you have?

I have the newest version of wordpress and power stats 1.3.1. I’m not actually sure how to answer the PHP question (definitely new at this!)

Can you post the fatal error you get? And when exactly does it happen?

The error happens within the stats section (the wp power stats settings); I go to check the “bots” box, so I won’t see visitors who arent actual people, and then hit save settings.

Then I get an error that says: Fatal error: Call to a member function remove_cap() on a non-object in /home/davgia6/popculturecasestudy.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-power-stats/wp-power-stats.php on line 234

Are you sure you are using the latest WordPress version?
The latest version of WordPress is 3.9.1.

According to your site footer, it seems that you are using version 2.8.

I think that is due to the theme I am using. I assure you I am using the newest version

Try to remove the plugin, download a fresh copy of WP Power Stats version 1.3.1, and install it. When you remove the plugin, your statistics will be kept automatically.

gave that a try and that didn’t work

Did you try it after I suggested it? I made a minor fix to the version 1.3.1. This is really a strange issue. I cannot reproduce the error. Do you have some custom roles specified in your WordPress?

    Thread Starter davegiannini

    (@davegiannini)

I did try it after you suggested it. how would I know if I have “custom roles”

That will involve some programming… Did the error, or the error line change after you tried the last solution?

    Thread Starter davegiannini

    (@davegiannini)

    nope same exact error message

Hey, you might want to install the developer plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/developer/

Then activate/install the debug bar from it.

On the WP Power Stats settings page then click on the “Debug” option on the top bar, and copy the info from different tabs to https://pastebin.com/ for example and provide me the links. That might help catching that nasty bug.

I am also getting the error described above when I try to block out administrators’ views from being counted, or try to add my IP to the list of IPs to ignore views from.

I am using wordpress 3.9.1 on godaddy hosting (not my choice, I’m pretty sure it’s apache).

Here is the message I get:

Fatal error: Call to a member function remove_cap() on a non-object in ****/wp-content/plugins/wp-power-stats/wp-power-stats.php on line 234

I really like the user interface for this plugin and it is very lightweight. However, I need to be able to ignore administrators’ views so that I can ignore pageviews generated by site testing tools like pingdom and the godaddy p3 plugin performance tool.

    Thanks!
