  • FTP into your site and delete the wp-content/plugins/visitor-maps folder.

According to this thread, it could be problem with your web hosting company and their older version of php.

Ask them what version of PHP they run, or put the code <?php phpinfo(); ?> in a file called phpinfo.php and go to it with your web browser; that will spiit out all you ned to know about php on your server.

    Esmi,
Worked perfect, my site is active again … many many thanks
What would have been the root cause: do I need to change something to be able to add this plugin or do I have to remove the other statistics plugin first (however this has no visitor mapping what I like to install).
    Thanks again!

What would have been the root cause

Either the visitor-maps plugin is simply broken or didn’t download correctly. Or it’s not compatible with 2.8.4. Did you check to see what version of WP it is compatible with?

    ok will check, thanks again

I was wrong; the simpler the fix, the better ??

I faced the same problem as Sauzelle. Really wish I could use it.

I suspect it was an older version of WordPress. The latest should be used for the best security and compatibility.

I just made an update that should prevent the error on older WP versions .

You can try the new version.
