    Hi,

I have attempted to activate your plugin on two different sites, one is single site and one is multisite.

Each time I attempt to activate (and I have had to deactivate all plugins to see if it would work), I get the following:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

There is no indication of what error it is.
I am presuming that the error is that the folders and files you require to be set to 777 permissions aren’t set to 777. Folders are set to 755 and files to 644.

The practice of requiring 777 permissions isn’t supported by many servers due to security issues.

If this is what the fatal error is, please can you explain why you are requiring users to set folders and files to 777?

I can see that you are a contributor of another ticketing system plugin. No one reported such a problem. I guess you just try to degrade our plugin. I am going to report your offence to wordpress

I’m sorry. What plugin am I a contributor to that is a ticketing system? I am NOT a contributor to a plugin that competes with your plugin. We had planned a support ticketing system but have not developed it in some time because our users have asked for other features which have changed our focus.

There is nowhere that I know of that any of our users have tried to use the plugin I contribute to for a ticketing system. We do have a messaging system but that is not for support tickets. That’s just a messaging system where members can message each other.

I would have liked to try and use your plugin on our support site. I cannot get your plugin to activate. Since you have checked and seen that I am a contributor to a plugin, you should know how to contact me. I don’t mind discussing the issue privately.

If you do contact me privately, I will let you take a look at the two sites I have tried to activate the plugin on.

I will tell you what I had planned to do with your plugin along with using it on our support site. I had planned on creating a video showing how your plugin could be used within our “My Account” page to keep support tickets local to members’ pages when someone is using the two plugins together.

There was no offense, and no offense intended.

    1. I just want to know why you are requiring people to change folder and file permissions to a level that is unsafe on their servers.

    2. I wanted to know if that requirement will generate a fatal error if they aren’t set that way. Because I can’t get your plugin to activate.

This support topic is NOT resolved.

I received the same error as the OP. I am looking for a new faq/knowledgebase/ticketing system type plugin and this one looked very promising, but it won’t activate for me either.

Also gotta say, your comment to the OP was not cool. I thought you were the offensive one for jumping to conclusions like that. Perhaps you should stick to programming and let someone else handle the user/customer facing stuff. ??

I’ll go find something else, thanks anyway.

actually, we may released our first version in a hurry, without being fully tested. We are working on v1.2 which is completely based on different architecture and tested using php units. The next release will be available by the end of November. Thanks for your interest in our plugin and please keep supporting us.
