• Hi there,

Have installed the plug in, added a few products, added categories, created a catalogue and entered the short code on the page I’d like the category to display on.

When I go to the front end, I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_convert_encoding() in /home/aaiautoco/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-product-catalogue/Functions/Shortcodes.php on line 501

I’ve watched the installation video and looked everywhere I can think of for answers, but am stuck. Please can you help/advise urgently?

    Thanks so much,
    Best, Alison

  • Hi Alison,

The mb_convert_encoding function is a native PHP function, that should be included in every version of PHP released after June, 2001. Can you please make sure that your site is running an up-to-date version of PHP (released 2009 onwards)?

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. The version of PHP the hosting site is using is 5.4.37 – is that ok? If so, what can you suggest?

Many thanks in advance, Alison ??

    Hi Alison,

Thanks for the information. It looks like multibyte functions aren’t necessarily enabled by default in some versions of PHP. We’ve just released an update that uses a few different functions to do the same thing as mb_convert_encoding to ensure as wide compatibility of the plugin as possible.

    Hi Rustaurius,

Many thanks for that – so I just need to go and update the plugin? Will give that a go ??
