• After installing WordPress for my domain jugurthine.cf, I received the following error message:

Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.ads-software.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home/u898857356/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 158 .

I installed everything correctly via the instructions given, but still here is an error with the plugin section. How do I resolve this issue?

If this doesn’t go away on its own, check with your host’s tech support to make sure they have the latest versions of openSSL and curl installed and active.

I sent them a ticket. Hopefully they will respond. Also, if there is an issue with line 158 of file /home/u898857356/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php, could I just delete whatever is on that line?

    Absolutely not!

That is “core”, we NEVER edit core code. WordPress works, it most likely is a bug with your theme. I wouldn’t worry, hopefully the author/developer will provide good support ??

Also, knowing the name of the theme would help support volunteers research your issue…

It’s the Twenty Sixteen theme that I am using.

Where are you hosting this domain? Locally?

NO! Do not edit core files.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

I am using a web host. I tried to create a domain name on my virtual server to install WordPress, but the domain, jugurthine.cf redirect itself to gwbs.biz. So I signed up for a hosting account just to save the time.

I am using the Twenty Sixteen them with no plugins

Then it’s a hosting issue. Contact your host.

I sent them a support ticket. Just waiting to hear from them. The rest of the website looks good. I will let everyone know once this issue is resolved.

Just a quick tip: Either disable the suspect plugin or temporarily rename the plugins folder to disable ALL plugins. Then reactivate each plugin one by one ??
