fatal error

  • Having issue with installing newspage plugin on new site. It works on existing site with wordrpess 4.9.4, but on new site I get the following error message:

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘new’ (T_NEW) in /home/jchobbes/public_html/wp-content/plugins/newspage/simplepie.inc on line 720
    ————————-
    I know this is a very old plugin, but I am unable to figure out any of the other RSS aggregators. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
