Update: removed the plugin using sftp; updated WP core & re-added plugin. Activation killed the site again. Will remove again, but all of the events use maps so not sure how to proceed. Obviously I can’t push this to production.

I am not able to replicate this issue. Just did a new install (cleaned my database) and it activated normally.

What version of PHP are you using?

PHP 7.2. Do I need to upgrade to 7.3?

I just rolled back the plugin to version 2.5.0 and the site works now. The error message that v. 2.9.3 generates (pasted in above) is pretty specific; is it not enough to go on?

I can’t leave my staging site broken; esp. can’t risk having the broken plugin merged inadvertently into production, so am going to keep the old version and maybe try again with the next update. Hope this gets figured out.

    No it is not, unfortunately…
Because you seem to be the only one of 600+ users to experience that line as an error. So that makes it very difficult to replicate and even solve… Also, a similar line (just the naming of the variable differs) has been in this plugin since version 2.6.0. ??
And the identical /config/ folder is used in all my plugins.

Assuming you are using the latest versions of WP and EM, the only thing I can think of, is that some other plugin is interfering. You could test that by deactivating all plugins, switch to a default theme (pref. Twentytwelve as it’s still the safest), activate only Events Manager and EM – OSM to see if the problem still plays up.
