• Dear Anyone,

I was in the midst of updating my wordpress account, and shortly afterward, the screen transitioned with the following message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_recovery_mode() in /home1/ggo70354/public_html/wp-includes/load.php on line 812

I can’t access it my site, nor can I even access my wp-admin profile. I am totally stuck in the twilight zone.

Did anyone ever experience this before? I have no idea what to do.

    Desperately seeking assisting
    Thank you wholeheartedly in advance!

    Sincerely,
    Gwayne Gautreaux

Let’s assume the update borked itself, so try a manual update: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/updating-wordpress/#manual-update

    Hi Steve,

I’ll probably have a few questions along the way if you don’t mind. I’m not that familiar with working with these files.

So I’m in the hostgator panel, but there are a host of menu items.

    So for these two instructions:
delete (1) wp-includes and (2) wp-admin directories, where would I be able to do that?

    Thanks,
    Gwayne

    Steve,
I figured out where to go for this on Host Gator.

I’m in “file manager” inside a folder named ‘public_html, and inside this folder, I see two folders named wp-admin and wp-includes. So I should delete those two folders, correct and then upload the new ones from the new WordPress file I just downloaded correct?

    Thanks,
    G

Yes. Plus the .php files (except wp-config.php) in public_html.
