• I’m NEW to WP. This is a process question. I cannot find any plugin or clear advice how to transfer my b2evo blog over to WP. Both programs reside in the same shared host server (iPage). B2evolution does not have an export feature. Both the old database for b2evo and new WP database reside in mySQL, I know b2evo stores all media within it’s directory so somehow I need to copy that into WP. Can I simply change the DB path, DB name and user that was used in b2evo into wp_config.php? OR what am I missing that will allow me to make this conversion? I tried to upgrade 2bevo to version 7.2.5 and it didn’t go well. There are some fatal errors I’m not sure are within b2evo from the attempted upgrade. It’s not fully displaying it former skin (template) so I have it offline. If I can successfully migrate to the WP platform I won’t spend time hiring someone to fix the errors. The main reason to leave b2evo is that it’s no longer supported (open source) and won’t run on php 8.0 and above.

WordPress has an RSS importer: https://github.com/WordPress/data-liberation/blob/trunk/guides/rss-to-wordpress.md

Could you increase the size of the original blog’s RSS feed to get as many posts as possible?

WordPress has other importers available, in case B2 has other export options: https://www.ads-software.com/data-liberation/

My blog was used to convey stories to veterans who were in Vietnam. Not being a social media user per say, I didn’t use RSS for the blog. So that import option is out. None of the other links have a specific tool that is designed for B2evo so I have to assume that there is a reason why I see one created for each specific application, app or platform used for blogging. Apparently for as long as b2evo was and is used, no one thought to develop an exporter. Further, I have searched the internet to find out how to make this migration. Apparently there is a few developers who will do it for a cost which I haven’t explored yet. I’m totally in the dark about writing code of any sort so I’m seeking help from the forum that tells me there is a specific process needed to convert or import my data and media from b2evo to wordpress.

    Hello @212warrior,

Posts can be extracted from the b2evolution database and then they can be tweaked to import them into the WordPress, there is no plugin for the process, if you are good with MySQL queries yourself, you can try to write some query to fetch all posts and to export them. I don’t know how many posts do you have, another approach would be to scrape those posts with some tools for that and then to import it into WP, but that also can be complex to do. There is no a simple solution to what you need.

    Kind Regards.
