    I just updated from …. 2.0.? to the newest 2.0.beta… Everything used to work. And now it doesn’t.

    The slider doesn’t show up on the page, it’s just blank. I tried making a new one… nothing happens.

    I tried the new “save and preview” button and I get this

    Fatal error: Call to a member function enqueue_scripts() on a non-object in /home/jewelsmi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ml-slider/ml-slider.php on line 277

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Beta3 out now, haven’t had any feedback so I’m sort of working in the dark here (its working for me, tested through on WP3.5, 3.5.1 and 3.6, upgrading from 1.3 to 2.0)

    If anyone could let me know anything (including the exact version you’re using – either 2.0-beta, 2.0-beta1, 2.0-beta2 or 2.0-beta3) I’d appreciate it ??

    Thanks,
    Tom.

    I download the first Beta this morn, and bought the pro ver. (I love the slider BTW.) However, it gave me real problems. I couldn’t get it to work at all. I attempted to perform a “roll-back” and encountered a catastrophic problem that resulted in a WSOD that I had to have my host repair. Upon completion, I had the original free version running again (I said I loved it). I decided to try my luck, and updated to Beta3. Not working at all. All I did was update. I did not reactivate the pro version yet, nor will I attempt another self repair w/o guidance or suggestion (my site was down most of the day in my stubborn attempt to fix it myself).

    I just updated to Beta3, WP 3.5.1 and am still having the same issue. Code shows but slider does not.

    Hi Jason,

    Sorry to hear that. I think I know why you encountered the WSOD which I have already fixed in Meta Slider Pro – I’ll send you that file now. I’ve just tagged 2.0-beta4, having real issues at the moment as we’ve tested Meta Slider 2.0 extensively (we set up all of metaslider.com with it, and I’ve been developing on it for 2 months!) and I’m now working pretty blind.

    I’ll send you the updated Meta Slider Pro file now and if you’d like a refund then of course we will do so. Regardless of a refund, I’ll make sure we get the Pro version working for you. Will email you now.

    Regards,
    Tom.

    Not sure if this will help but here’s the HTML output by Beta4 now. There are two slides in this Slider but only one img tag and it doesn’t have a src attribute.

    <div class="metaslider metaslider-nivo metaslider-13 ml-slider" style="max-width: 960px;">
    	<div class="slider-wrapper theme-light">
    		<div class="ribbon"></div>
    			<div id="metaslider_13" class="nivoSlider">
    				<img class="nivo-main-image" style="display: inline; width: 940px; height: auto;">
    				<div class="nivo-caption"></div>
    			</div>
    		<div class="nivo-controlNav"></div>
    	</div>
    </div>

    Edit: Reverting to 1.3 fixes the issue consistently

    Tom,

    I once read, “To err is human, but if you really want to mess things up, use a computer.”
    You’re working hard to put together a great product, and you’ve put out how many repairs today? In my mind this more than demonstrates responsible action. No refund requested or required. The offer is greatly appreciated though.

    I have not attempted to use the pro version again yet, so I cant say if it works or not. I currently have 2.0Beta3 up and not running (I simply didn’t want to compound anything by activating the pro on something that is currently working).

    Hi Jason, thanks for understanding! It’s been a long day.. beta4 will be the 6th release. The ‘fixes’ if anything are workarounds as I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue effectively – I’ve tried pretty much every combination of server setups, wordpress versions and upgrade paths I can think of. Still, I will not be defeated!

    From what I can work out on the reports, the slide type (coin, flex, nivo or responsive) isn’t getting through to the the right places. Beta4 aims to fix this by defaulting to flex slider (just to get Meta Slider working ‘enough’ to allow you to resave your slideshows with the correct settings). If you could update, I assure you it will not break it any more than it already is – not sure how comforting those words are!

    Regards,
    Tom

    Travis, thanks for the info – It may have pointed me in the right direction. It seems it could be something to do with server setup. There’s been a few support items about Meta Slider today, where they’ve installed 2.0 successfully, so it is working for some people.

    As I said, I think I might be on to something, I’m calling it a day now (I’m in the UK and its just gone 1am), but I’ll be back onto it first thing tomorrow morning.

    I’ve rolled the stable tag to 1.3. The easy way to downgrade in the mean time is to delete Meta Slider (don’t worry, you wont lose your slideshows), then search for Meta Slider from your plugins menu and reinstall.

    Regards,
    Tom.

    Thanks for the hard work Tom, we all appreciate it. I’m not having trouble reverting and haven’t encountered the WSOD. I did start this build on a local machine and migrated to a hosted server if that makes any difference.

    Hi Travis, did it work locally before you transferred it?

    I’m going down the route that its a server configuration issue, could you also let me know which host you use?

    Hi, does everyone have JetPack installed?

    Regards,
    Tom

    .. specifically the Photon extension (credit to Jason for spotting this!)

    I only used 1.3 on the local site and all upgrades have been on the hosed site. We are currently hosted with GoDaddy *ducks from backlash*

    Thanks Travis.

    Do you have JetPack enabled?

    The problem Jason was having was due to JetPack – specifically the Photon addon, it was stripping out the image URLs, looks like a similar issue to yours.

    If not, did you fix your upload permissions when you moved your site to goDaddy? Meta Slider might be having issues resizing your images ‘on the fly’ if it PHP isn’t able to access them.

    Regards,
    Tom.

    I don’t have Photon enabled and the permissions on my uploads folder is set to 755.
