This is my first time working with a self hosted wordpress website, I created the site with local by flywheel. I saw there was an update for elementor, I updated the plugin and it broke the site creating a fatal error.

( ! ) Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot access offset of type string on string in C:\Users\angel\Local Sites\greerstep-dev\app\public\wp-content\plugins\elementor\core\page-assets\data-managers\base.php on line 242

I tried to roll back elementor to the previous version and it still has this error.

Can someone direct me how to fix this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @getampd.

I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/elementor/ so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

Alternatively, you could try restoring the entire site including the database to a previous backup? It could be that there is bad data in the database as a result of the update.

I posted under the plugin support as I suspect it’s related to the Elementor Plugin.

    Hi @noisysocks

I didn’t have a back up of this website yet sadly. I just finishing building it out this morning. Is there another way to salvage the work or should I just start over again?

an elementor (or other) plugin problem does not mean that the database is lost. the database contains your content (i.e. pages, posts, settings) localwp has the database available in the “Adminer” area.

you can also get to all of your plugin files and folders in the WP Content directory – also available via localwp. find the WP Content folder then the plugins folder then the Elementor plugin folder. Rename the Elementor plugin folder to deactivate Elementor plugin. deactivating the plugin might help you get into your WP-Admin area for further troubleshooting.

for additional support using localwp visit https://localwp.com/help-docs/

@contentiskey Thanks for the reply. I’m still able to login to WP Admin and the elementor editor has the site saved still, but the site is displaying those errors still. If I deactive the elementor plugin by changing the name will I lose the website that’s saved in elementor?

If all areas of your site are functioning then there is no need to rename or deactivate the Elementor plugin. Yes, if you (temporarily) deactivate Elementor plugin, the site will look different since Elementor plugin is a “page builder” layer on top of WordPress.

here’s a link to learn about backups of WordPress site incase you need to make a manual backup copy (note: LocalWp uses a tool called Adminer not PHPMYADMIN for the database area) : https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/wordpress-backups/

@contentiskey The WP Admin is function correctly, it’s the live site that has all the errors referencing Elementor. Which I assumed was because I updated it, but even when I rolled it back I still have the same errors. I’m able to see my pages built out in the Elementor builder still though.

I got the exactly same error
Hi, go in Elementor-Tool and regenerate CSS and Data + Sync Library.

For me, that work, hope for you too.

    Hi,

I ended up getting this resolved. I rolled Elementor back even futher to 3.9.0, the upgraded to the newest version and that worked for me.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
