    Yikes!

Can you try removing and re-installing the plugin manually? I can only think that by virtue of some quirk, the update process failed and left you with a corrupted installation.

That error definitely should not be possible (and, indeed, so far as I am aware no other users have experienced or reported this).

Hi. I have been getting a similar error – over the last few updates. I have managed it just now so unfortunately don’t have the exact error message – I decided to check out the forum after repair.
I have manually removed old version and when installing new I get a message to say directory/plugin already exists.
I find now that when I see that there is an update available the best option is to remove the old plugin by ftp, download the new version, unzip, upload via ftp and hope for the best!
Next time it happens I will post the error message.

    Hi @ihtiaddaithi,

Thanks for sharing your insights here–so sorry to hear that you’re also having a similar issue! If you’d be willing to take a moment to open a new thread here, we’d be glad to take a closer look and see if we can offer any suggestions to get things running better on your end! ??

I am getting this same error. My events plugin has disappeared. The PRO addon is still there but the main plugin is gone. When i try to reinstall from the wordpress plugin page it fails because it says the folder already exists. I tried to upload the zip file and got the same thing. help!!

I can’t uninstall or deactivate because it is not showing up in my list of plugins at all.

    Hi @ally0929,

I’m really sorry about that issue. It looks like something went bad during a plugin update and while the old version was deleted, the new one was not added.

What you can do is log in to your server via FTP connection and delete the folder ‘the-events-calendar’ that is inside wp-content/plugins. After that you should be able to install The Events Calendar again.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Andras

thank you so much! That’s exactly what i did and it’s all fixed!!! Thanks!!
