• Since I updated to WordPress 6.3 and I tried to take a Live Preview of the Twenty Twenty Three template, the page gave me a fatal error with the following error message:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home/___/public_html/teslaoracle/wp-includes/capabilities.php

Since this is not a live template on my website for now, I am worried about the future as I plan to switch to a new theme. And yes, I did update the theme after installing 6.3.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Hey there @souldesigns – here are some troubleshooting steps:

    • Do you get the same error when previewing another block theme like Twenty Twenty-Two, Blocksy, or any other block theme?
    • Do you still get the error after temporarily deactivating all your plugins? You can use the Health Check plugin‘s troubleshooting mode for this, which will not change your live site. If the problem goes away, reactivate your plugins one by one (while still in troubleshooting mode) to find the culprit.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi

Im getting the error with 2023 and 2022. I currently have 2017 installed and was thinking of an update. I can do a live preview of the Classic theme and Twenty Twenty One. I get the following error message.

@countstefan – could you please create your own topic in Fixing WordPress, to allow people to help you more easily? It’s much less confusing for volunteers to do troubleshooting with folks individually, and also we won’t bother the OP (original poster) with notifications of replies unrelated to their site. Thanks.

@souldesigns – let me know if you had a chance to do the troubleshooting steps I mentioned above.

@zoonini I could not troubleshoot with the steps you defined, I cannot do that on this high-traffic live news website.

    Thanks!

Hi @souldesigns – one way to still test the template would be to recreate a testing site with 6.3 and try activating the template – and seeing if it still happens.

I find https://instawp.com/ to be really helpful for that kind of thing.
