    Hi everyone,

Hoping someone can help! I’ve updated Yoast SEO to 14.1 and I’m getting a fatal error:

An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 506 of the file /home/website/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/wp-seo-main.php. Error message: Class ‘WPSEO_Register_Capabilities’ not found

Has anyone encountered this before and does anyone know how to fix it?

    Cheers,

    Tim

    Hi @timlumsden @kaptelneha23

We apologize for any issues that you may have encountered when updating the Yoast SEO plugin. We’d like to try and help you get this sorted out.

Can you confirm you’re using the latest version of WordPress 5.4.1 and that all of your other plugins and themes are up to date? Could you also let us know if you updated it using the WordPress admin dashboard or if you used another tool or method? Did you update from v13.5 TO v14.1, or did you update from v14.0.x to v14.1?

Could you please try to follow the steps below and see if you are able to update the plugin successfully:

Hi, the update also caused a fatal error.
    WordPress 5.4.1
    Everything up to date.
Upgrade from 14 to 14.1 from the desktop
    PHP 7.4 (change doesn’t help).
    New wordpress-seo folder uploaded.
Only disabling the Yoast SEO plugin solves the problem.

    Hi @matthew99 ,

Are you using the Events Calendar plugin? If so, the have released a fix for this in their plugin, in developer version 5.9.7.5. You can find more information here.

@tonydomrep Sorry to hear you are having issues on your site with the latest update. Have you tried the instructions here? If so, can you create a new thread with more information about what exact error you are getting?
