Hi! I *just* upgraded to the latest version of UpdraftPlus and right after the upgrade completed, I received this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_user_locale() in /home/{snip}/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/class-updraft-dashboard-news.php on line 69

Fortunately, my site still loads. Unfortunately, I can’t access the Dashboard, due to this error. Does UpdraftPlus require a certain, minimum version of WordPress now?

    Thanks!

Tested, built, now uploading to www.ads-software.com…

It’s on www.ads-software.com now – https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/updraftplus.1.14.7.zip – just waiting for the www.ads-software.com website to update.

It’s there now. One way to update is to download the above zip, unzip it on your PC, and replace the existing wp-content/plugins/updraftplus folder on your website with the ‘updraftplus’ folder that you get when unzipping. I am now investigating /wp-admin/update-core.php.

Thank you David Anderson! Updated through Wp.org Again Thanks for such quick action!!!

Thanks, but I don’t think it is the WP version. I had three sites running 4.9.5 crash after the update; and another few sites running 4.9.5 NOT crash. Running on the same hardware, too.

@tommcgee Unfortunately in our haste to prevent anybody else downloading the buggy version that had a problem on WP 4.7 and earlier, we momentarily introduced a problem in the release that would trigger on all WP versions, and that version was up for download for a few minutes. Many more apologies!

    Hi Devid
    thanks for resolving so quickly!!

Makes sense. The sites that didn’t crash were the first that I updated today. Thanks for the quick fix.

Some info on how to upgrade to the latest UD version if you can’t visit your dashboard: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/version-1-14-6-is-bad-many-apologies-plus-how-to-fix/ (as some users have noted, the wp-admin/update-core.php method would not work – I suggested that before trying it (as we were rushing to get a fix out) as I thought it would).

Many apologies again to everybody affected. We will be introducing new steps in our procedures to make sure this can’t happen again.

@davidanderson – if I rename the plugin folder to a different name, then login to my dashboard and go to plugins and add the new version as a new plugin, would that work as well? Then just delete the folder I renamed?

    thanks!
