• Hello,

I posted in another thread, but realized it was marked as “not a support question” so I thought it might be better to post a new thread:

We were running Version 0.9.4.1 of W3 Total Cache and received a notice to update to 0.9.5.1.

I clicked on Update Now, and after it was finished, I went to the site, only to receive the error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function add_global_groups() on a non-object in /home2/yortroy/public_html/wp-content/object-cache.php on line 144

I could not access any portion of the website, and I cannot even log into the WordPress dashboard.

Per a suggestion from support at our theme maker, we went through our web host control panel and found the W3-Total-Cache folder in public_html/wp-content/plugins

We changed the file name from w3-total-cache to w3-total-cache_1 and now our website is viewable and accessible to the public.

The problem now is that when we attempt to log in to the WordPress dashboard, we are receiving the following error:

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/yortroy/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/yortroy/public_html/wp-content/object-cache.php.

I manage this website, but I am not a “web designer/developer” so my knowledge is limited. ??

Help! What do you suggest we do?

    Hello @danielg8

The problem now is that when we attempt to log in to the WordPress dashboard, we are receiving the following error:

That means the plugin is not correctly removed. Please go to /home2/yortroy/public_html/wp-content/ and delete advanced-cache.php, object-cache.php and the cache folder. Then remove cache related define from wp-config.php file.

Then don’t enable object cache to check if it works.

You can file a report from Dashboard > Performance > Support page.

    Have a good day!

    Cheers

Thank you @bappidgreat for your help!

From /home2/yortroy/public_html/wp-content/, I deleted advanced-cache.php and object-cache.php and am now able to get into our Dashboard again.

I did not yet delete the cache folder since I was able to get into the Dashboard after the first two steps. I was not sure what you meant by:

remove cache related define from wp-config.php file.

When I log back into Dashboard, W3 Total Cache is now showing as ‘not activated.’

Also, I couldn’t find Dashboard > Performance > Support page

Do you think I should submit something at https://www.w3-edge.com/ ? I still don’t know why this plugin caused the errors and I am nervous to continue using it.

I’m also wondering what that means? Any response?
