While the WP Notes Widget looked great on my website over the last few days, after updating to WordPress 4.1.1 and the version 0.2.0 of WP Notes widget (not sure if this is cause or coincidence), upon trying to activate the plugin I receive the following message:
” Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in
    /hermes/bosoraweb184/b2236/nf.alexseaman/public_html/alexseaman.com/wp-
    content/plugins/wp-notes-widget/admin/class-wp-notes-admin.php on line 211″

Consequently, the plugin does not activate or display on website.
I have downloaded the notes widget wrapper which works in some cases, though I enjoyed the WP Notes Widget when it was working…

    Thank you!

  • Hi Alex,

Thanks for the message. I have an idea as to what may be causing the problem. Just to confirm, is your web hosting package running something lower than PHP version 5.3? I may need to adjust some code since I am using Namespaces, which is a coding technique not supported in versions of PHP lower than 5.3.

    Hi again,

Haven’t heard back but I assume that was the problem. I just released a new version which fixes this problem since regardless, this issue will affect other users. You should see a new update is available from your WordPress plugin administration page.
