• Hello, I’m getting the following warning with a site that I set up with WP Better Security. I turned the plugin off while I was developing it, but now when I tried to enable, I got this:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 258237 bytes) in /data/25/2/122/5/2448331/user/2682406/htdocs/off/wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/inc/filecheck.php on line 220

    Please advise. Thank you, M

Hi, they sent me instructions, but I think they have assumed I know way more than I do.

Any advise on step-by-step instructions? They told me I also need to remove another file when I add the php.ini.

    Hmmm. ?

I see there are some youtube videos on the topic so will see if it’s there. I’ll be back when I know more. In the meantime, thanks for your quick reply.

Some features in Better WP Security requires high amount of memory, things you can do to avoid such errors (in future):

    – Don’t enable the features you don’t need in Better WP Security, so far I know File Change Detection and Backup features require lots memory.

    – Don’t install too many plugins, use only what you really need.

    – Change to other webhost which offer more memory.

But if you’re unable to access your website backend, the thing you should do is to temporary disable Better WP Securiy so you can gain access to your backend and reconfigure the plugin. Here is the thread that has the information you need:
