The CRON daemon is reporting this error every time it runs:

Fatal error: Call to a member function get_option() on a non-object in /home/bhopal67/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-statistics/wp-statistics.php on line 134

I can enter WP Statistics from the Dashboard. Everything there looks good and I even reset some options and purged what I could. But it is still giving this error every time the cron runs.

This happened right after the last update of the WP Statistics plugin. I saw a few similar post topics, but none of those gave any suggestions that helped or were the same problem. Is there something that needed to be manually reset or restarted?

    Thank you.

I assume your mean WP_Cron and not your Unix cron deamon?

When you say it started happening right after the last update do you know which version you were running (I assume your using 8.4 now)?

There’s nothing in the data that would create this error, something has gone wrong during a page load and the global variable we use for some of our code isn’t working correctly.

Yes — V8.4 right now. We keep up on the latest updates, so it would have been the previous version before that. 8.3 I guess?

If something went wrong during page_load, can I just reload a page to fix it? If so, which page should I reload? I already went to all the wp statistics setup pages, but I still get the same error.

Thanks for the quick reply and for any suggestions on how to reload the page!

What log file do you see the error in?

It arrives through the email that results from the CRON job execution.

I’ve done an 8.5 release which should resolve the issue. Let me know if it doesn’t.

Sorry, I bring me in to this.
I have also an Fatal Error.
When I call the Option Search Keywords (in German: Suchbegriffe) it ends up with IP Adress, the usual Icons and below of it with:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function htmlentites() in …. /wp-content/plugins/wp-statistics/includes/log/last-search.php on line 127

This also happened right after the last update of the WP Statistics plugin a few minutes ago.

    Thanks

There’s a typo in the 8.5 release, 8.5.1 will resolve it.

I am trying it now and (so far) today I have not seen that error — much thanks!

In detail: Thank you not only for the fast reply and followup, but also for focusing on the problem instead of the usual wild goose chases of trying different browser versions and installing irrelevant operating system update patches. ?? Awesome!
