• I was asked to do some changed on a website. In my haste I started updating the plugins. When I got to the types plugin upon refresh I get this error. I did a few hours of stressful debugging on a live site to get it back working. I disabled the plug in, reloaded it several different ways and still get the error. I disabled all the plugins and when I got to the types, no error. There is also the plugin WP views. When I activate that, error comes back. So I have narrowed it down. Both show updated to the current versions and WP is updated to the current version but when I activate both I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method WPV_Settings::get_instance() in /home/howardmo/public_html/wp-content/plugins/types/library/toolset/toolset-common/inc/toolset.settings.class.php on line 177

I am in hot water here if I cannot get this figured out so please, your help is very appreciated. Worst thing is no one asked me to update everything and I made the faux pas of not backing everything up. I know, idiot!! The web URL of the site is:
    https://howardmorrelteam.com

Currently you will not see that error unless I activate both plugins so at least users will not get a totally broken site, only a partially broken site.

The site uses both these plugins and even though not crashing with the error right now, a lot of things are not working. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have seen similar issues but nothing provided me with any answers and I narrowed this down to these two plugins which it so happens that you guys both do so that should be a good thing as far as helping me out.

Here is an update and I have fixed the issue, albeit a duct tape one. I did in fact have a backup. It was a few months old but no changes have really been made since then. I restored the old versions of types and views-types and now no errors and everything is working with the exception of the prompt to update types to a newer version on the plugins page.

Views was purchased for this site and most likely needs to be updated to work with the newer version of types but I do not have that info for the purchase and rather not deal with potentially something breaking again when it is just working fine now. Old saying, ‘if it ain’t broke…’, which I do not follow enough or I would not have gotten into this mess.

Here we can only assist Types issues.
Views is a paid plugin and I can not assist any issues with it here.

Locally that error is not replicable, which speaks for a conflict with the theme perhaps, or a very specific setting that makes it happen.

In those cases usually I have to ask for a copy of the site, because that is the only way to find what’s wrong.

What is very possible is that a file got corrupted on the update and a full reinstall, using feebly and manually downloaded plugins would solve it.

I would like to ask you, if that doesn’t solve the issue, to post over at the technical support forum here:
    https://wp-types.com/forums/

There I have better possibilities to let you share things privately with me.

And in case of views, this is the only way to assist you anyway.

    Thank you.
