I can not activate the plugin

A – I had a cerber update rolling out on my site which I applied. This caused an error with the notification -> that I had to check my admin mail for more details. I was not able to find the admin mail.
B – I moved to delete rename the old cerber installation to Cerber-old
C – I installed Cerber fresh activated it and it worked properly
    D – I deleted the Cerber-old Plugin
    E – I had to reactivate Cerber

    then this happened

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare cerber_get_bulk_action() (previously declared in E:\HostingSpaces\KEVINMGXP\mygamexp.net\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\wp-cerber\common.php:974) in E:\HostingSpaces\KEVINMGXP\mygamexp.net\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\wp-cerber\dashboard.php on line 4867

Can someone assist to resolve this I use cerber as my main security and it kept my site safe for the past years -> I would like to keep using it.

I was able to resolve it:

I renamed the cerber root folder from wp-cerber to wp-cerber-v8.5.6 and now I can activate it without any issues. However, I still want to press that this is very odd since this is the first time that I encountered this with a few plugins that I am using for a long time now.

I would like some info why this is happening and how i can avoid it?

It can happen if the common.php file in the wp-cerber folder was not updated to its latest version. Delete the wp-cerber folder completely. Download and unpack the plugin from www.ads-software.com. Deactivate the plugin located in wp-cerber-v8.5.6 and activate the plugin in the new wp-cerber folder instead.
