    Hi,

I just installed WordShare on my WordPress. I attempted to activate it, but it keeps giving a fatal error. The specific error given is:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/56/4760056/html/clexa/wp-content/plugins/writeshare/writeshare.php on line 78

I have attempted deleting the plugin and reinstalling it, but it still will not activate. Any advice on how to remedy it? Thanks!

I am not able to replicate this. I suspect it is a plugin conflict. What plugins are you running? Can you disable them in a staging environment then upload/activate WriteShare?

    Please report back.

I went ahead and ensured all plugins were deactivated (they have been on prior attempts). Upon attempting to activate WriteShare, it still kicked back the same parse error.

The plugins are: Akismet Anti-Spam, Welcome to WordPress, WP Downgrade, WP Rollback, & WriteShare Writing Community Platform.

Only other option I can think of is removing WP altogether and starting fresh again. I have rolled WP back to 4.9.3 and had the same results. Unfortunately.

    Thank you for the help!

I just installed and activated on a site running WordPress 4.9.4
    No problems at all.

How about activating a different theme?

Thanks for persisting. This really is unusual.

    Thank you.

Well I ended up uninstalling all of WordPress, completely. Reinstalled WP then deactivated all plugins, downloaded WriteShare, and still ended up with the same error. I can’t imagine the issue.

Prior to doing the reinstall of WP, I did confirm that the default theme was installed and active.

    I’m certainly at a loss.

I do use GoDaddy as my domain host. They actually perform the install of WordPress. Not sure if that affects anything.

    Thanks again for the assistance!

Would you shoot me an email? aoswebworks @ gmail.com

    Thank you!

I use Go daddy also…worst host but anyway, don’t use installatron. Upload WordPress manually, create a database and install. After install then activate the plugin. I have it on my site working flawlessly.

    Excellent! Good to hear.
FYI – I also use Installatron, so that’s not the issue.
    GoDaddy? No comment. ??

I use goiww.com. The support and service are outstanding, and “I’ve been everywhere.”

    Good luck with your site!

I think you meant to respond to @redhope and got our posts mixed up.
