Fatal error: memory exhausted

    Immediately after “create new database backup” I get:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 176128 bytes) in /www/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1999

    This is on a hosted website where we can’t adjust the allowed memory size. We have a fairly large POSTS table. Is there anything else we can do?
