• Hello,

April 4 I was deleting 1000s of Comments from an older WP site, BeAReferee.com; version 3.3 I believe but installed May, 2010. The db_version is 17056, if that helps.

The approved comments bulk deleted fine, the pending ones (couple 1000 again) did not, except by deleting 20 at a time. Then suddenly the following error message appeared:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Scripts::get_data() in /home/zebra1/public_html/wp-includes/class.wp-scripts.php on line 148 This happens when I type in the main URL.

When I try to login through the Admin I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_allowed_protocols() in /home/zebra1/public_html/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 2340

Basically, I can’t access my site. I last had access about a week ago.

Your assistance would be appreciated to help me get the site back up.

    Thanks,
    Jake

  • Weird… I’m confused as to why database updates would result in mangled core files. Have you tried overwriting your wp-includes folder with a fresh copy of WordPress 3.3 (it sounds like that was the version you were using… you should use the version you had installed before you started running into issues, then upgrade once things are working again)? I’d start there.

Post back if you’re continuing to have issues. I hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply…but I don’t understand how I can install again when I can’t access via the admin backend? Can you please explain how to do this?

It’s not a full reinstall, really. You’re just overwriting the source files for the WordPress core with a fresh copy. Based upon the errors above, either you ran into a weird bug or your copy of wp-includes got mangled somehow.

You’ll need to download the version of WordPress you have installed from www.ads-software.com, then connect via FTP or SFTP to your server and overwrite the server’s copy of wp-includes with the copy you downloaded from www.ads-software.com.

    I hope this helps!

Sorry Zimmi, but you’ve lost me. I don’t know what wp-includes is or where to find it, please point this out.

Then if you would please provide the basic steps about where to connect via FTP or SFTP and overwrite the server’s copy.
I have a very basic understanding of the back end.

Finally, Esmi asked me to find the db_version to determine the version of WP. Above I mentioned this was 17056.

    Appreciate your patience with me.
