  • Getting fatal error message when activating Landing Pages plugin

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare lp_init() (previously declared in /home3/costark9/public_html/wp-content/plugins/legal-pages/legal-pages.php:209) in /home3/costark9/public_html/wp-content/plugins/landing-pages/modules/module.landing-page.php on line 621

    Can you disable legal pages?

    Looks like a naming conflict

No…not my site, I am working with the owner on a business opportunity and he is letting me use his website

Change the function name to something else in legal pages.

Change every instance of lp_init to legal_lp_init

    That should solve your error

How do we resolve this so that I can use the plugin?

I am not a programmer, I would not know how to do that, and I don’t want to mess up his website

Why is this a problem? Shouldn’t every WordPress plugin work with other plugins?

Yeah they should. We might rename the function in a future release.

Ours is a public plugin, while theres looks private, so there is no way for us of knowing what their codebase looks like.

Change the functions in legal pages or wait for a future release of landing pages.

We need to run numerous tests to make sure this won’t break anything else though for our thousands of other users, so no eta on a fix from our end.

Your best bet would be changing the functions in the private plugin.

    By

Change every instance of lp_init to legal_lp_init

inside the legal pages plugin files

I’m not going to mess up his website. I don’t know html, so I would not know what I am doing.

I don’t understand why this can’t be fixed now or why I have to wait for future releases.

We are trying to get business and cannot wait for new software. This makes no sense…I thought WP was easy to use.

PHP functions cannot be named the same thing. So there is a fatal error.

Change our function or change their function name. Thats the only fix.

Sorry. You can pay for us to do it but we do not fix other peoples code for free. https://www.inboundnow.com/premium-support/

This is ridiculous…one plugin for Landing Pages wants you to pay after you sign up for a free account, the other has errors with other plugins

Legal Pages is a WP plugin, not a private plugin.

    This? https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wplegalpages/

    or https://wplegalpages.com/ ?

Again not our code. Sorry you are having issues.

I’ve added the issues to our list

    https://wplegalpages.com

So I’m supposed to fix this? Why? I am not a programmer, and I don’t want to mess up this guy’s website.

Your answer is not good enough.

This is typical of IT people…they expect everyone to understand what they do and do the same…if your plugin is a WP plugin and the other plugin is a WP plugin, shouldn’t they work?

We need to build this landing page ASAP, cannot wait for new releases.
