    Hey guys,

    So I’ve noticed a few times that after you update the plugin my homepage disappears and I get the message: “Fatal error: GCE_Display::get_event_days(): The script tried to execute a method….” See link below for full message. When this message appears on the page, none of the homepage content gets displayed. Only this message.

    I understand these updates are necessary, and I do very much appreciate the hard work you guys put into this, but is there anyway to avoid messing up the whole page? I don’t mind if the plugin is down for a while, but when it disables the whole homepage, its kinda rough.

    Any ideas on how I can avoid this?

    Thanks & happy holidays!
    Adam

  • Ok – on the rds-on.com site, which is a GoDaddy Managed WordPress site (not my doing – this is a site I recently got involved in) the calendar widget is not working in Safari and Firefox, but is fine in Chrome on the Mac. On Chrome on a PC (v42.xxxx) and in Firefox on a PC, it’s NOT working.

    FTP’d in (with some difficulty – 3 FTP clients later and only FileZilla got me there) and changed the object-cache.php file to _object-cache.php and everything is now working again. ??

    Will check back later tomorrow to see if it’s still working and whether or not the file is still renamed.

    BTW – the plugin is working FINE on my Hostgator sites.

    Done on 3 sites and all is well now on those three sites.

    Changed the feed that works to grid view and it is still visible:

    …however the good feed shortcode used in the broken page fails to populate the page

    @kohladmin,

    Please post your problem in a new thread or a thread related to your issue. This thread is not related.

    @paddy Duncan and @slb535,

    Awesome! Thanks for letting me know that it is helping. Let me know if you have any other updates.

    Thanks!

    …even after doing all the cache-clearing possible.

    Building an entirely new page using the good feed shortcode did the trick

    Hope this play-by-play helps!

    Oops sorry! We’ll jump off now since we’re all good.

    Nick/Phil,

    I re-enabled the Google Calendar plugin and renamed the object-cache,php file. I’m running GoDaddy/MediaTemple hosting with the built in cache mu-plugin as indicated.

    So far, it seems to work, but I’ll continue to check on it going forward (which is when it seemed to appear before). livinghopecc.org. The calendar displays in list view on the home page/subpage sidebar.

    No fix has been deployed though, correct? Will keep you posted.

    Three days now with the renamed file (hasn’t reverted) on GoDaddy managed WP and no issues. Hope that helps. ??

    @ambient Studios,

    No we have not done anything in our code differently yet. It is likely a host related issue and that’s why we are testing out the issues with the object-cache.php. Thanks for testing it out for us and if you do run into any issues please let us know.

    @paddy Duncan,

    Awesome! Please let us know if anything changes.

    THanks!

    Changed the object-cache.php file name and no issues so far. Will let you know if that changes.

    Thanks!!

    I too found the same error, but only when NOT logged into WordPress. The site is hosted on GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress platform.

    Today I renamed object-cache.php and that seems to have removed the error and not caused any other problems yet.

    Hello, I’m new to WP and i’m trying to use Goolge as the calendar for our runningclub.
    After fill in the shortkey in a page i get an error message above the calendar.

    “an error has occured”
    “not found”

    What am I doing wrong?

    @albert0721,

    Please don’t piggy back on this thread because it is not related. Create a new thread with your details and I can help.

    Thanks!

    I’m a recent MediaTemple user. Came across this post after having the same sporadic error. Sounds strange but seemed to hit mostly on a Nexus 7 using chrome in landscape mode and a phone with an older browser. Changed the object-cache.php file and so far so good. The calendar looks great. So much nicer than going back to dumping gcal into an iframe. Thanks.
