    Hi there,

Big issue with latest update, site has been broken now for a few hours.

Updated S2Member plugin, we have Pro and the site is now broken with this message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method c_ws_plugin__s2member_mo_page_in::back_compat_mop_vars() in /homepages/31/d396448838/htdocs/mysitename/wp-content/plugins/s2member/includes/classes/mo-page.inc.php on line 82

Cant get into site or site admin at all.

    Anyone else had this issue?

We have messed with nothing code wise, site fine…updated and it’s broken.

    Thanks, P

  • Sounds like your installation may have been incomplete or corrupted. You may either need to downgrade or install the files by uploading the .zip files directly. Or use FTP.

    Previous versions are here:

I did upgrade to v140409 and that file you cited does have that function/method that’s missing from your installation. That’s why I think your upgrade didn’t complete.

    Morning Jumbo,

    Your a STAR!!!!

You know I looked for a previous version of S2 and couldn’t find it anywhere. I tried various things going crazy that the site had broken and in the end gave up waiting for S2 Support to get back to me.

I only thought of posting on here late last night.

Thanks ‘so’ much. I noticed your reply at 2am and got up and sorted it within 5 mins.

Only just started using S2 and am aware it’s a bit of a monster so will keep your link of past options ‘just in case’ and will always update via FTP.

Many thanks again, your help is ‘much’ appreciated ??

I am having the exact same problem and just had to roll back to 140328 to get a version to work. This is very strange – is it common with s2?

I’m reading about it happening elsewhere and not filled with much confidence that much is being done to fix this…

There have been nearly 700,000 downloads of s2Member. If it really were an issue, this forum would be flooded with similar complaints. But it isn’t.

Inevitably, everyone has different sites running a variety of different components on different hosts, so occasionally there is almost bound to be a glitch somewhere.

But you haven’t really provided any details, so it’s difficult for anyone to help you. Did you really get the same message as the OP? Who is your host? What version of PHP are you running?

Oh, and please don’t post in threads marked resolved. Please describe your problem in a new thread. The OP was talking about a different version of s2Member on a different version of WordPress.

chill dude – yes ‘i really did’ get it. you think i got here cuz I’m bored or something? I got here cuz I googled the error I couldnt’ get around and just wasted 3 hrs trying to roll back the plugin only to find that lots of people get told to roll back s2 quite frequently.

So to be clear – while this specific error is not common, the fact that people roll back frequently and cannot get newer versions to work or have crashes on upgrades is common.

No need to be so defensive…just shocked that when I hit this wall that I had to roll back so far. Since you feel the need to be so self-righteous maybe you can answer how this was marked as ‘resolved’ when all you gave was a workaround? how does someone ever upgrade if they have to roll back?

if you don’t want people posting you can team up with esme who loves to close threads before they are actually resolved.

I think you need to “chill, dude”. I don’t need to be defensive because I have no connection to s2Member at all, other than being a user.

When someone comes onto the forum, I assume they would like some help, so it’s useful if they actually provide some information. You still haven’t. So I am wondering whether you really wanted help at all.

How do you roll back? Do you just upload the previous plug in version and S2 takes care of the rest? I’m concerned about losing membership data. Do I deactivate the new version first? I’m confused.

There are two methods, but make sure you have deactivation/deletion safeguards on first:

    1. Use FTP to overwrite the latest version with the previous version; or

    2. Delete the latest version from within WordPress. Then upload the previous version from your desktop.
