  • I’ve been using this plugin for several years without issue, but have just got the same error in the last few hours –

Fatal error: Uncaught Exception: 1: An unknown error occurred (1) thrown in /plugins/seo-facebook-comments/facebook/base_facebook.php on line 1273

The error message appears on the page where the comments should be, with nothing appearing afterwards (footer, etc).

As others have said, this plugin looks abandoned now, with no activity from the author showing for over 1 year, a warning about incompatibility with Yoast SEO, and not following FB current coding standard.

Anyone know of a similar plugin ? And one that will hopefully inherit all the comments from this one ? (I seem to remember that the comments are stored in the WP database and shouldn’t be lost, right ?)

    Hi daminator

After researching other plugins, I saw your name popping up on various support pages, so I wondered how you were getting on finding a replacement for this ?

My main worry is that I might lose all my comments ! I’ve disabled this plugin now, my page is working OK again, and my comments are appearing in what I assume to be standard WP format.

For anyone else reading this, these 2 appear to be the best reviewed alternatives, although I’ve not actually tried them yet –

    Facebook Comments

    Super Socializer

Anyone successfully moved over to either of these ?

We’ve seen the same thing with pages breaking completely when this plugin is activated. Same issues in the php logs, and other issues seen in the support forums here.

Of note, the plugin only claims to be valid for the 2.x branch of WP Core, and hasn’t been updated for over a year.

I switched to Facebook Comments as mentioned above (didn’t try Super Socializer) and apart from needing to hide the comments (with css) appearing via WP, everything went seamlessly.

I’ve not tried either of them yet photoMaldives, so you’re ahead of me! ??

When you use Facebook Comments, do you know if new comments are added to the worpress ‘comment count’?

Hi daminator – no, I’ve not received any new comments yet, to tell.

Facebook SDK is depreciated and since this plugin is not updated for 2 years, I think it will not work anymore. I was also using this plugin but after it has stopped working I decided to write a plugin that works with better features.

Please check this one; you will love it ??

    Burak.

    Thanks for the headsup, btdogan.

Is your new plugin any different (any better?) than Facebook Commentshttps://www.ads-software.com/plugins/facebook-comments-plugin/
