I am in the process to further develop this site and created it by copying the whole system into a new host. All was finally working. This site is the unchanged ‘old’ version.
I was updating all plugins being said to be compatible with WP version 5.2 . I check marked 14 plugins from the update-core page. Waiting for 15 min. and refreshing the page I received the following message:

The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

    The related email said:

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Post Slider by 10Web.

    and

    Error Details
    =============
An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 518 of the file /home/www/fortvermilionlodgeboard.ca/wp-content/plugins/post-slider-wd/post-slider-wd.php. Error message: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/home/www/fortvermilionlodgeboard.ca/wp-content/plugins/post-slider-wd/wd/start.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php7.3/lib/php’)

Looking at the files I agree that this start.php file does not exist. In fact the whole folder ../wd/.. is missing.

I cannot access the admin area at all. Whichever page I call or recall the same error message appears. The recovery option does not work either. It response with:

    Recovery Mode not initialized.

What can and should I do?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Instead of waiting I looked at the file post-slider-wd.php line 512 and found the error source. It is the adaptation to 10web.io which was not installed but WP5.2 checked against it.

    Remediation:
I downloaded the latest plugin version (1.58) and copied it into the file structure (after renaming the existing ‘old’ folder).
Then I just logged in again into the admin area of our website and tested; everything worked just fine.

The old folder created another plugin version in the plugin list being deactivated. I just deleted this and can keep working on the development of the new features of our website.

NB: in the meantime there was an auto -update to WP5.2.1
