    Hi there,

when I try to activate the plugin Event CLNDR (Version 1.01), I receive the following error:

Das Plugin kann nicht aktiviert werden, da es einen fatalen Fehler erzeugt.
(that means: Plugin could′t by activated because of a fatal error.)

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /homepages/xx/yyyyyyyyyy/htdocs/wp/wp-content/plugins/event-clndr/clndr.php on line 272

I deactived every other plugin and tried again, but with the same result.
I even deactived my theme an activated WordPress′ Twenty Sixteen. That didn′t help either.
    Looking forward to your solution.

    Best regards

    Hi there

I think this is probably because you are running below PHP version 5.3. Can you confirm?

Assuming this is the case, version 5.3 itself reached end of life in mid-2014, so I’ll not be providing support for anything before that.

It is highly recommended that you/your host upgrade your PHP version.

Let me know if you think you’re actually running a later version of PHP (and if so let me know what version of WordPress you’re running).

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for the quick and competent help.
Yes, the reason was in the PHP version. I could activate the plugin after updating PHP to 7.0.

    Best regards
    Uwe
