• Hi, everytime I try to use the auto update for wp 3.0.4 I get this error message.
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2975669 bytes) in /home/—–/public_html/wp-includes/class-http.php on line 1408 (sorry not sure whether the —- should be published)

I am a complete novice and haven’t a clue how to install manually. Any guidance assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Helen

  • Hi

You need to get your PHP memory allocation increased from 32 megabytes to 64 megabytes. Since you don’t know much about it I suggest you start by asking your web host if they are willing to do it for you. Many hosts will. You can tell them you have a WordPress installation and are getting an out of memory error message.

As far as upgrading WordPress manually, , first see if your host will increase you allocation. And if they do, try the automatic update again. If it still doesn’t work then you can try a manual upgrade. I just did a Google search and came up with a pretty good tutorial on that process.
