By the way I called GoDaddy which is the hosting provider and they just simple said… We have nothing to do with errors in the wordpress framework not even wordpress itself… so I’m helpless

    Hi,

In most cases, this is due to update failing partway. Best way to resolve is to re-install the plugin. You will not lost your backups in the process.

Thanks, I have tried to re-install, I have deleted it and no success… I know I won’t lose the backups cause I have them in the cloud but I do need this plug in working again cause I have to move this site to another server with the latest content that I have not backed up yet. One thing I find interesting is that the plug-in is not installed right now and when I go to add a new plugin within wordpress and I search for Updraft.. and I click on install… after a lot of seconds the button shows FAIL TO UPDATE… why is this? where in the server is a flag saying that the plug-in has been installed previously so it says that message??? the other thing I have not tried yet is to download the plugin externally and upload the file… I guess I should try that one too but still I would love to hear from you all any extra thoughts on this.

By the way I have tried to install the plugin from a zip file and the “fatal error” happened again…

    Hi,

Could you manually remove ‘updraftplus’ folder via FTP from the ‘wp-content/plugins/’ directory.

Then manually upload the plugin via FTP. Unzip and upload to ‘wp-content/plugins’ so it becomes ‘wp-content/plugins/updraftplus’.

After uploading the files, you can then activate the plugin to from your WordPress dashboard.

Do you still get the same error?

    Kind Regards,
    Bryle

I did upload the plugin-files after download using FTP and then I activated it and then it did work fine
