• Hello,

    Today, I wrote a new blog post and while trying to Publish it, I got the following Fetal error:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_cache_setting() in ……./public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/wp-cache-phase2.php on line 1646

    Though the error was shown, but post was published when I checked in the list of published posts.

    I then checked that even when we try to update old posts, same fetal error triggers.

    I disabled wp-supercache plugin, then this dont happen.

    It seems some new bug. Please fix it and update the version, if possible. Till then, I think, I have to disable plugin.

    Thanks

    Where is the zip file? I dont see one in above link.

    Can you grab the development version of the plugin from here:

    https://odd.blog/y/2o

    Installation instructions are included on that page.

    @skvwp

    I am also using Bullet Proof Security Plugin of @aitpro. Previously as soon as I activate both the plugin, BPS plugin used to show that WP Supercache is active, hence BPS .htaccess file also need to be updated accordingly and so on…. Then, it used to ask us to unlock BPS .htaccess and then some automatic changes in there by BPS plugin. Now it is not asking anything like this. Both plugins are activated in peace without asking to update BPS .htaccess. may be this info will give some more clues to both of you, sir.

    We added a new feature in BPS Pro 13+ & BPS free 2.0+ versions called Setup Wizard AutoFix > https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/setup-wizard-autofix/, which automatically sets up WP Super Cache with BPS so that manual setup steps are no longer required to get both plugins playing nice with each other.

    That is a great news. Yes, I have used this function of your really great plugin!

    One question, if I could ask, today I tried to take a backup using BPS, only the tables could be backed up and nothing else. Is there any option to backup everything, including files etc and ALSO RESTORE THEM IF THERE IS A NEED??

    May I request you to please comment on this forum, and please answer specific query about your plugin Network for WordPress and WO Supercache comparability issue. May I also ask you if you have any planning to update your plugin, it is not updated since last 2 years.

    @skvwp – BPS has Database Backup only and we will not be adding file backup for a couple of reasons.

    #1 Web hosts usually provide automatic daily file backups and web hosts do not like it when plugins do redundant things that they are already doing like file backups. ?? Note: Database backups are typically not automatically done by web hosts.

    #2 It is very easy to replace WordPress Core folders/files via FTP by simply deleting them and uploading new Core folders/files. Notes: It is not easy to replace all of your database content unless of course you have a database backup of your database that you can use to restore your database. ?? Personal website files and image files can be easily saved (backed up) by simply downloading them via FTP to your computer.

    Additional Note: Since all plugin and theme option settings are saved in your WP Database you can manually delete and replace plugin and theme folders/files as well. ie manually delete them and reinstall them in your WP Dashboard. So there really is not any need to backup those files either.

    OK. And thanks for reply. I can understand. And yes, BPS is for security, which it is doing very well.

    @donncha Perfect!

    Update worked like charm. No error on network sites even if wp supercache is not network acvtive there. New post updates go well. Great!

    Now my query is do we need to netwrok activate it on every network domain or on mother main domain only it is fine?

    Thanks again!

    @skvwp it should work as long as it’s enabled on one site in your WordPress install. The caching part of the plugin is loaded by your wp-config.php, but they won’t get the settings page if the plugin isn’t active on the blog.

    If it is activated on mother site, will it be active on all network sites fully or partially i.e one third as it used to be in the past?

    If the plugin isn’t enabled on a network then users on that network won’t see the settings page, but it should in theory still cache pages for those blogs. Check the wp-content/cache/supercache/ directories to make sure it’s working though.
