Fatal Error with Archives

The line in question in the code is:

$link = apply_filters( "wpseo_" . $rel . "_rel_link", "<link rel=\"$rel\" href=\"$url\" />\n" );

On this page:

The full error message is:

Warning: rtrim() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /home/cyclingutah1/cyclingutah.com/cms/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 1381

Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/cyclingutah1/cyclingutah.com/cms/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/frontend/class-frontend.php on line 713

The error was caused by having the following string in the URL:

-–-

as in this url:
https://www.cyclingutah.com/category/sport-and-touring/road-–-sport-and-touring/page/2/

I’m not sure how the three dashes got in there before, but it cause issues with WordPress SEO. It doesn’t cause issues if WP SEO is deactivated.

Hence, WP SEO is not handling the URL properly.

Here is a similar url with substituted characters (%e2%80%93) that cause the problem:

https://www.cyclingutah.com/sport-and-touring/mountain-%e2%80%93-sport-and-touring/

This is a bug in WP SEO…Hoping that it can be fixed soon.

Anyone? This bug still exists in the latest version of WP SEO.

Hiya – having same problem.

Narrowed it down to using either the CPT-onomies plugin or Yoast’s SEO (or a combination of the two).

Will keep an eye on this thread and post if I find anything.

It it Yoast’s WP SEO that causes the problem. I don’t have the CPT plugin, and when I deactivate WP SEO, I don’t get the fatal error.
