Looks like this issue has been raised 6 months ago yet no update to support modern php ?? is this theme dead?

Thanks for adding your voice here, we really appreciate hearing from you.

Our free themes are still alive and actively supported, but you’re right that development/forward progress has clearly taken a bit of a hit since the the pandemic, when we lost several team members. We still have ambitious plans for Kale, it’s just been a matter of limited manpower, which we truly are working on at the moment.
