In your Faux Live Chat example, there is a string of text just above the email form field when it pops up. Where does that text get set? I can’t seem to find it.

Also, where is the email notification of the conversion sent? Is that set to the gravatar address or the system admin address? If an email notification is being sent, I didn’t receive it. I see conversions being counted in the admin but I can’t find where the email address are stored.

  • Hi, that is set in the optin message field. The email is sent to the send-to email you specify in the settings. If you are not receiving emails, you might want to try an SMTP plugin like Postman for more reliable wp_mail() deliverability https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/holler-box/#faq

Thank you for the reply. That was helpful.

I checked the “Show email opt-in” checkbox and found the fields for “Message” and “Send to email”. I wasn’t receiving the email since the “Send to email” field was empty. Could that be required if the chat checkbox is true?

I received the email once I populated the email address field and re-tested. The email includes the text entered in the first box, but it does not include the email address captured in the next step.

This faux chat is really slick. A nice and simple low tech solution.

Ya I could make it required, that’s a good call. The email that is captured is in the reply-to field of the email that is sent.

    Thanks!

I see it now but I surely missed it. Could you add a note (or tooltip) near the “Show chat” checkbox about this. I was thrown off by not seeing it anywhere in the email. Your reply-to implementation is great, I just didn’t have any expectation for how it worked.

    Thank you for listening.
