• Hello! I was hoping someone could share some knowledge on how to change the favicon in the Twenty Sixteen theme? I’ve looked everywhere but seem to be missing something obvious…

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

It’s in the customizer. You can find the upload button under:
Appearance > Customize > Site Identity > Site Icon.

There’s no ‘Site Icon’ option however… when I go into appearance, I can see the menu “Site Title, Tagline and Logo”… but no option for the Site Icon anywhere…

    Hello telelel,

Please Upload Your Favicon icon in image folder of active theme and place that code in between your <head> tag

    <link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”<?php echo get_option(‘home’); ?>/favicon.ico” />

I can see the menu “Site Title, Tagline and Logo”… but no option for the Site Icon anywhere…

That’s weird, it should be “Site Icon” instead of “Logo”. Favicons work out of the box, and are supported by default from version 4.3 of WordPress.

It could be a plugin which is using site icons as logo, or is the theme heavily customized?

To resolve, try deactivating the plugin, or switching to other default theme should rule-out a theme-specific issue.
