• Hello,

    I’m trying to add a favicon on my wordpress blog which I host on my own webspace. I use a free version of the Titan theme and had much trouble adding a Favicon to my site. Eventually I managed to add one with the following code but it has since disappeared:

    <!– Favicon –>
    <link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”https://theilp.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/favicon.ico&#8221; type=”image/vnd.microsoft.icon” />
    <link rel=”icon” href=”https://theilp.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/favicon.ico&#8221; type=”image/vnd.microsoft.icon” />

    Now I am unable to get the favicon to appear. I’ve tried using plugins and I know I’ve got the path name correct as the favicon appears in the Dashboard. I’m also unable to install the wordpress update and I’m wondering if this might be the problem?

    Thanks,

    Thanks-I’ve tried this already along with numerious other methods. I have noticed that the favicon appears in Firefox but with not appear in Internet Explorer. At least I knwo I’m doing something correct but its very strange that IE won’t display the favicon.

    Could it actually be an image issue? when I download your favicon.ico to my desktop, I get a generic white file type for a preview. When I open it in gimp and simply re-save it with an .ico extension, it then previews fine.

    I just tested your favicon.ico on one of my test sites as is. It displayed perfectly in FF, but did not show in IE. I then opened and re-saved the image using Gimp, re-uploaded it to my test site, and it now works in IE with no problem. I think it’s just something funky with the image.
