    Good evening,

I’m experiencing a strange behavior of favicon in SERP.
WP Site Identity, add site icon 512*512 px 25 Kb .PNG format.
    Clean caches
Push to Search Console to reindex.

Open browsers in incognito mode and first I see the favicon on Desktop search(in a short time after manipulations – around 10 minutes). Rechecked in 10 minutes – disappeared. Magic.

I noticed WordPress crop my image and link that cropped image every other time I change it in Site Identity.

    I use Elementor site builder.
    Plugin Yoast for SEO.

Will be very glad to hear an advice what I can do here.
I have tried many options but it didn’t work as well as read other topics related to favicon.

    Thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Do you mean that the icon doesn’t appear in your browser, or doesn’t appear in Google’s search results?

    Hello @orange2 ,

It sounds like you’re dealing with a tricky favicon issue in search engine results page.

After reindexing via Google Search Console, it can take some time for changes to propagate. You could try requesting indexing again after changing your site icon to ensure Google picks up the latest version.

    Hi @macmanx ,

    thank you for your reply.

When I open browser when I’m logged in website WP account I see our favicon.

The interesting thing is that when I checked the search results on chrome desktop in incognito mode, I could see search results with favicon. (After I update image in WP site identity) However, it didn’t appear on mobile chrome.

but when I checked in 5 minutes in search results (chrome desktop incognito mode) – it’s again without favicon.

    Hello @asifsiam97 ,

    thanks for the suggestions.

    I understand it.

but the point I requested he indexing and cleaned all website caches.

Favicon appears for a few minutes in Chrome desktop incognito mode. When I recheck in 5 minute, I see the search results without favicon.

    Don’t get what happens.

You’ll need to check with Google’s support on that, but I recommend waiting about a month first.

Even if you manually request a re-index, Google does not update their index in realtime.

    Hi @macmanx,

Yeah, I understand that google doesn’t do reindex in real-time. That’s why I’m very surprised on how it showed up. It is a magic mystery for me.
I think it must be or Google bug or Elementor builder bug.

I’m leaning towards it being a Google issue, but you might as well check with https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/elementor/ too. ??

@macmanx thank you. I have just scanned topics and also tried to search on WP forums. But couldn’t see anything about it (yet).

I have added already links to favicon in meta tags (in the functions.php file in the theme). It was again showed up-disappeared. Review the page few times and it happened a few times in a row (not only only my laptop).

Afterwards, it’s still not there. I noticed a few other WP websites also added links t favicon in meta tags. Probably, I am not the only one experienced this issue.

Will wait a few days. Hopefully, Google search will identify and stabilize SERP with our favicon ??

    Good day @macmanx ,

I have fixed the issue. It seems something went wrong with the Yoast plugin when my colleague updated the premium subscription. She may have missed some steps during the process. I checked the error logs and noticed a few entries related to Yoast. After contacting their support team, they assisted me in reindexing the tables, and now everything is working fine.

Previously, I added favicon links in the header as well as through WordPress site identity settings, but that didn’t resolve the issue. The favicon now appears in Safari, Chrome, and on Android devices, but it’s still missing on Bing. I might need to spend a bit more time on that.

There’s also a strange issue with Chrome’s incognito mode. When I initially encountered the issue, I opened Chrome Desktop in incognito mode, and the favicon was visible. However, when I refreshed the search results page, the favicon disappeared. I recorded a video on my phone to document this, as it seemed to be updating in real-time.

    Here, it’s on google drive
