Attempting to share my site on FB, but the link displays a text string we cannot find anywhere in the site database…. Have run programs to find it to no avail, except one that located it where we couldn’t find it ourselves and offered to “replace” it – we attempted this but the same text still appears in Facebook link…. please help! Thank you ??

I can’t replicate the problem on that page. Was it happening on another page?

the problem is only becoming apparent on facebook when trying to share the sayitwithhemp homepage…. there’s no direct issue with the WP site itself, other than that this untraceable text string is hidden somewhere in the system…. do you happen to know where a summary/blurb for sharing on social media might be stored in the WP system? (laymans terms here – my tech support couldn’t figure it out either – we spent hours searching – so I’m on my own now..) thank you so much either way!

I did try sharing your Homepage on Facebook and the information Facebook took is below:

Journeys of a Hemp Enthusiast ?

Making contacts in the hemp industry in Europe and USA so Say It With Hemp can give you access to hemp products and solutions to your sustainability concerns
    SAYITWITHHEMP.COM

I assume that information doesn’t include the random string. The first step to helping you is being able to replicate the problem.

that’s the text I’m talking about – journeys of a hemp enthusiast is the name of the blog within the site, not the homepage, and that content text is the stuff we can’t find anywhere in the system to change it….

It’s not a random string, from that description it sounded like your website was hacked. The text was actually a title that was there on the 2nd of September but has since been removed. Facebook cached the page on the 2nd of September for performance reasons.

I’ve purged Facebook’s cache for now, but if you want to do it in future then run your website through this tool and select “Scrape Again”: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/?q=http%3A%2F%2Fsayitwithhemp.com%2F

Ah! thank you so much, this makes sense and it is now sharing the home page properly – amazing! thank you, Andrew ?? I’m fairly certain we weren’t hacked, we were just playing around with the layout of the homepage and blog the other day (which is titled journeys of a hemp enthusiast), but the sub text itself was something we couldn’t trace back to a particular point in time; we presumed it was something my tech support had entered into the system at some point early on.. Amazingly helpful and excellent insights, thank you!

Are you able to direct me to where I can edit the shared blurb text? I know my tech support would love to be able to retrace his steps, this was a real doozy for us!

Lifesaver! thank you thank you! ??
