• Hello,

Yesterday, my website had 500 visitors, but when I check the Events Manager on Facebook, it indicates PAGE VIEWS as 3500. I’m curious about the reason for this discrepancy.

Additionally, considering that each user, on average, views only 2 pages, the total PAGE VIEWS should be around 1000 (500 visitors x 2 pages). I’m uncertain if I’m overlooking something or if there’s an issue. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello!

The discrepancy between the number of visitors on your website and the page views reported by Facebook’s Events Manager can stem from a few factors. Here are some common reasons:

    1. Multiple Page Views per Session: A single visitor might view more than the average number of pages per session, leading to a higher page view count.
    2. Caching and Bots: Sometimes, caching mechanisms or bots (like search engine crawlers) can generate page views that are not actual user visits. These won’t typically show up as visitors but can inflate page view counts.
    3. Tracking Issues: There could be a possibility of multiple instances of the Facebook pixel firing for the same page view, which could lead to inflated numbers.
    4. Third-party Integrations: If your site interacts with other platforms or plugins that trigger the Facebook pixel, this might also increase the page view count.

    To troubleshoot, you can:

    • Verify that the Facebook pixel is correctly implemented.
    • Check for any duplicate pixel firing.
    • Analyze the traffic sources in detail to identify any patterns that might explain the discrepancy.
