fb thumb absent first time on firefox/chrome but appears second time

when i use fb share the link and text come up but there is no thumbnail, not even a space for it. it isnt an empty square, its more like it just isnt there. then if i cancel it and hit fb share again it brings up thumb on 2nd time and all future times. it is liek it only happens the first time a pic is being shared on fb share. please advise for fix.
