• Hi,

I am having problem when I assign a feature image to my blog posts. By doing so, it changes the main image that appears at the top of each page and replaces it with the post feature image – I do not want this to happen.

This is problematic on some posts, where the image appears twice – in the post and on the strip at top – I don’t want it to appear on the strip on the top, it never used to, and I wan’t only blog feature images to appear here [not post feature images]:

Post without image problem, where feature images does not appear on the top strip:

Any idea why this problem arises, and how to ensure that posts appear like the second one and not the first? I want to assign feature images for social media sharing purposes, etc, but I cannot do this if it messes up the big image that is meant to appear at the very top of each page. I want my feature image to be the image that I have embedded into the blog post.

    Thank you,

    Brian

  • For the first post you linked, do you only have the featured image set for the post?

For the second post you linked, did you set the featured image but insert the image that shows at the top of the post into the post itself?

    Hi Jarret,

Feature image has been set on both posts – it appears at the top of the first one but not the second one.

Here is an example of a post where I have not set a featured image:

In this case the image on the strip at the top is one of the core images I’ve uploaded to the blog and appear at the top of posts. I’d like for this to happen even when I set a feature image for the post.

You would have to go into Appearance->Customize->Header Image to set some default images that would appear at the top of the page.

If you set a featured image for a post/page, then that image will display at the top and in the post as well looking at how the code is setup. If you’d want something different, you’d need to create a child theme ( https://developer.www.ads-software.com/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/ ) and modify how the code works so that even if a featured image is uploaded it still pulls from the randomized headers you’ve uploaded.
