The tool is great, but right now I need to copy&paste the content from a website which pulls the open graph information.

Image, title and summary could have an option to be pulled automatic from the open graph imformation (but should be editable after). The image must have the option to download from open graph image URL and store local (local is needed do to GDPR)

Hi again,

I wanted to let you know that we just released Visual Link Preview 1.3.0 which includes this feature for external links.

Take note that it does not work in Gutenberg yet, only in the classic editor for now.

I went to the classic editor
Opened Visual Link Preview
Choosed external link
Inserted https://faz.net (also tried https://sueddeutsche.de)

…but nothink happend, just shortly 3 loading points appered. I checked both URLS with https://opengraphcheck.com and they have OG tags.

Mmm. I used the https://microlink.io API for this and it doesn’t seem to be recognizing those sites for some reason. Can you check if it works for you for something like https://www.google.com

The other ones I tried are 2 of the biggest newspapers here in Germany…

Will have to look into using a different API then. There’s are a few other priorities right now but will get back to it and let you know.

I did see that one but that would require people to sign up for an account there first and its free plan has a maximum of 20 lookups per hour, so it’s not ideal.

I’ll look into it later.

Hi there,

I wanted to let you know we just released VLP 2.0.0 with quite a few improvements.

As part of the update I was also looking into other APIs but it actually looks like the one we were already using has improved. All the examples you gave before (like https://faz.net and https://sueddeutsche.de) seem to work for me now!
