• My household is delighted that the ActivityPub plugin now exists, because we’ve been running a few WordPress blogs for years, but we recently just opened up our own Mastodon instance. So the ability to have our WordPress blogs be followable on Mastodon is very exciting.

I have successfully followed my blog with my Mastodon account and have seen test posts show up in the feed nicely.

But I have one feature request I’d like to ask about, since I didn’t see a way to do this in the settings. Can the plugin be updated to allow for camelcasing in tags? Asking on the grounds that I’ve seen folks on my Mastodon feed say that camelcasing in tags really helps out the visually impaired who use screen readers. It helps screen readers read those tags much better.

Example: I have been manually posting the links on my gaming blog to my Mastodon feed, commonly using the tag #AnnaPlaysSkyrim, with that specific camelcase capitalization. When I did a test post last night using ActivityPub, I put AnnaPlaysSkyrim into the tag list on the post. I did see that tag propagate over onto my Mastodon feed, but it showed as #annaplayskyrim, with no capitalization at all.

Would you be able to consider a tweak to this behavior in a future release? Thanks for your time, and thank you for making the plugin, I’m excited to explore it more!
