Hi there – this is just the best table plugin!

I have one feature request though, is there any chance in the future of adding the capability to set classes on table cells? I have a table that requires different colour cells to denote different states. I understand that this could be done with a bit of html within the cell, but for my customers sake, I’m trying to avoid the need to put html in.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    thanks for your post!

Adding classes is not that easy, especially as there’s no real way to add a user interface for this. It would just make everything very complicated and confusing, if there would be another input field for a CSS class field, for example.
So, unless I find a really good solution, I don’t think that this is possible in the future ??

However, maybe the Extension that is described at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/highlight-a-row-based-on-value?replies=10#post-4524759 is maybe helpful for you?

    Hi Tobias
    Speedy response as usual. ??

I can’t say I’m surprised, but it was worth the question.

Thanks for the link, but I’m afraid that colouring the row is not enough. The application in this instance requires every cell to be coloured with one of three states and that could be multiple colours across rows. I’m afraid I can’t point you to the page to show what I mean because it in a closed club members area.

I shall just have to educate them in the use of <span>!

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi,

yes, if multiple cells per row need coloring, that Extension is not that helpful. Now, I could however imagine a way to extend that Extension to also allow individual cell styling. However, I do not have that available yet, and as it would be quite some work, I can not offer it as free support. If a professional solution would be an option for you, please send me an email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”, so that we can discuss details).
Otherwise, that <span> solution will of course also work fine.

    Regards,
    Tobias

I appreciate that something like that could not be done on free support and the offer of doing something otherwise. However, this is for a local swimming club and, since it only affects one page, I think at this stage, the <span> option will have to do.

    Thanks for the wonderful support.

    Hi,

sure, that makes perfect sense! The <span> option is also not that hard to use.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
