• Hello John,

I’m sorry but I have another feature request.

Would it be possible to let a user copy & paste the assigned style of a cell to another or multiple others?

    Many thanks for considering
    Joerg

    Hey Joerg

Don’t be sorry ?? I like receiving feature requests. That is a nice feature to have and I will look into making this a possibility.

Thanks for the suggestion ?? Let me know if you have any other ideas that you’d like to see implemented in the plugin.

    ?? Don’t call me I’m creative!

Designing a table takes often a lot of time. Once a table is designed, I would love to save the design as a template, that can be assigned to other tables, so they are having the same nice look.

A nice feature would be “Alternating Color Rows” as a setup instead of assigning the background manually ??

    Hey Joerg

This might be a little difficult to do :> You could duplicate a table but I’m not sure if that’s what you’re referring to. I would have to create a new post type for templates or something similar that could be applied to other tables but then the way styles are added is with rows index and col indexes. If your template is bigger/smaller than the table you’re trying to apply the styles to (for example background color), it would appear in the wrong spots..

A nice feature would be “Alternating Color Rows” as a setup instead of assigning the background manually

?? This one my teacher suggested, its already in the to do ?? Thanks for the suggestion though. This will be a similar to the row/col highlighting options, should be included in the update scheduled for this sunday.

Ok, maybe then some predefined templates? Just like you can find it in Excel?

    (@mythirdeye)

?? that might work! Good thinking ??

I’ll try to implement this. I don’t think it will be ready for this sunday ( i have to think about how to do it first ) but I will definitely add this to the to-do list.

You’re great man, I’m loving you ?? Thank you for all the suggestions!

Well may be an very easy way would be using different sets of CSS?

But I think instead of adding all the new features it would be better to eliminate some bugs ??

    (@mythirdeye)

My plugin doesn’t have bugs, it has unexpected features ??

But yes you’re right, the CSS option is a good alternative. And yes, the bugs are more important.:

    Hey John,

ever thought about cell merge and cell splitting?

    Cheers

Another thing would be nice to have:

    column width and height
    row height

force equal width & heights for columns and equal row height

    I shall stop for now… ??

ever thought about cell merge and cell splitting?

Yes, cell splitting (into 2 lines) should work, you may have to use a <br> tag though. I didn’t think about the shift+enter method, don’t know if that will work.

As for cell merging, the table editor is capable of cell merging however I have disabled that feature because it doesn’t work to well, in terms of being responsive. The columns get jumbled up and split up in a way that doesn’t work too well ?? On my DEV environment I have that feature enabled so I will do tests to see if I can implement it without messing anything up.

As for column width and height, good idea. I could probably make this happen. But i was thinking, instead of adding all these simple css options, would it be better to simply include a custom css box for the tables, so its easy to customize the table with css? I’ll look into this too, it might be good to have anyway.

Thanks again for all the suggestions ??

    Hey John,

You are right, responsiveness might be the most tricky part here.
I simply add a shorter value to each column instead of one speeding an entire row ??

And yes a CSS box maybe with one or two examples would be nice to have.
With CSS you can also determine header and footer cells, so different table sizes should not be a problem then ??

But anyway a style copy & paste option would be cool!

    Cheers

Really cool would be, to be able to define or edit a default stylesheet. For the most people this should suffice, as in general a site has a styleguide. To be able to override this for a single table would be nice, too, in case one needs a different kind of table.

But a really cool feature would be, to add attributes to the cells of a cpolumn, thar way one could use CSS like Pure CSS Responsive Accordion Table“, that collapes into single segments on small screens.

Just dreaming, thanks for a cool and very usable plugin.

    Hello @modus

I have a feature on my list for default styles/themes along with custom css box for custom css editing. This will be coming soon hopefully, I keep saying soon but I rarely have time to work on this plugin anymore.

As for adding custom attributes to cells, that is actually a wonderful idea, I will add it to my feature list. The example you gave me, the accordion, this is a similar function to FooTables which is the “hide columns” option in my plugin. It does function like an accordion, but its a little bit extra work to get it working right. I will try to release a tutorial video outlining this process.

Thanks for using my plugin and offering suggestions! I appreciate any feedback I get.

    John
